Miguel Ortiz


Miguel has a background in operational leadership and strategic transformation as an executive and consultant.

As Chief Transformation Officer at Allfunds, Europe’s largest funds platform, Miguel orchestrated a Private Equity-backed transformation, managing a €50m program over three years, including the largest platform migration ever attempted in the funds industry, covering €500bn of assets across multiple European markets. He was previously Chief Operating Officer at M&G Group and was instrumental in the creation of the business, which was spun out of the Prudential Group in 2019. He led the operational effort to demerge M&G and Prudential UK and established the new COO function, bringing together IT, operations and digital teams.

Prior to M&G Prudential, Miguel was a Senior Partner at Boston Consulting Group. He co-founded the insurance practice in London with James, and went on to lead the European insurance team, and the firm’s life insurance practice globally. He led numerous high-profile assignments with global insurers and asset managers, focusing on business model transformation, M&A and new business builds. At BCG, Miguel also led the internal career development processes for consultants in London.

Previously he was a Research Fellow at MIT and Imperial College London and published over 40 academic papers. He holds a PhD in Theoretical Physics from Stephen Hawking’s group at the University of Cambridge.

In addition to his professional and academic interests, Miguel is a former international water polo player and is still active swimming, surfing, and cycling. He was an early adopter of electric vehicles and has maintained an electric motorcycle for over 10 years.
